RCIA

Welcome to RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which people become members of the Roman Catholic Church. Participating in RCIA is much more than going to classes in Catholicism. It’s undergoing a conversion to a new way of life in Christ. A faith journey process designed for:

  • Those who have never been baptized.

  • Those baptized in another Christian faith tradition who may be interested in joining the Catholic Church.

  • Catholics who were baptized but never confirmed and received the Eucharist.

  • Anyone who just wants to learn more about the Catholic faith. Maybe your children are being raised as Catholics and you want to better understand the faith tradition they are learning or maybe you've attended Church with a Catholic friend and would like to know more.

  • No matter where each one of us is in our faith journey, all are welcome!

RCIA meets on Thursday nights from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. in the Resource Center. Classes start in September. Please call the parish office @ 812-522-5304 to register.

Materials:

You will be provided with a Bible, United States Catholic Catechism for Adults and handouts.

Attendance:

Given our short schedule for the year, we ask that you try your best to make every session.

Absences:

If you are unable to attend one of the Thursday night sessions, please contact our office at 522-5304.

Prayer:

Is an essential part of our faith journey as we seek to learn more about and develop our relationship with God. We will join in prayer together each week at RCIA. We also encourage everyone to find time each day to devote to prayer.

Worship:

Please begin or continue to worship with us at St. Ambrose Church. Becoming familiar with the Mass will help you to grow in your relationship with God.
Mass schedule

Baptismal Certificates

For those of you who are baptized and plan on continuing with the RCIA process, please bring a copy of your baptismal certificate.

 Sponsors

Part of our faith journey is having companions along the way. Most inquirers do not have a sponsor in mind, however if you have someone in mind, please let us know. We ask that sponsors are fully initiated Catholics (one who has received the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist).
